(Singapore 28 June 2023) The 4th Her Times Women Empowerment Award Ceremony will be held at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore on July 6, 2023, announced Fortune Times, the event organizer.
In conjunction with the award ceremony, a forum centered around the theme “Women’s Influence in City Transformation” will take place. Panelists from government, urban planning and Fintech will participate in the discussion.
In 2017, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Indonesia, Her Times, Singapore’s leading female Chinese business magazine under the Fortune Times Group, launched the inaugural “Her Times Women Empowerment Award” (WEA) with the support of the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore.
The WEA aims to recognize exceptional women who have made outstanding contributions in the fields of education, business, society, and philanthropy in Singapore, Indonesia, and other ASEAN countries. Besides their remarkable achievements, the winners are also dedicated to improving women’s lives in areas such as education, healthcare, and social development.
According to the International Labor Organization (ILO), women’s labor force participation rate in Southeast Asia is approximately 60%, contributing significantly to the region’s economic growth and development. In a world recovering from the impact of the Covid pandemic, women have emerged as key agents of change, demonstrating unwavering resilience, exceptional leadership, and remarkable innovation.
With a population of 260 million, Indonesia is the most populous country in Southeast Asia and the fourth-largest consumer market in the world. As a rapidly developing nation, empowering women and providing them with opportunities to upskill is crucial for significant contributions to the economy. With Indonesia assuming the rotational Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2023, Fortune Times sees this as an opportunity to extend the reach of Women Empowerment beyond Singapore and Indonesia to the rest of ASEAN. The commitment remains to empower women to become valuable contributors to sustainable economic growth, political stability, and the building of harmonious societies.
Women’s Empowerment is crucial for ASEAN countries including Indonesia and Singapore to achieve sustainable economic growth and social stability. As Singapore has a good location between the east and the west and has vast experience in women-in-leadership, it is a strategic position where it bridges women in Indonesia to the world through the gateway of Singapore.
With the support from the Indonesian embassy in Singapore as well as all Award Winners, Her Times is bearing the mission to promote women’s empowerment across education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship with a series of programs, whereas the women empowerment forum and awards will be a platform to practice the mission.
Esteemed guests, including diplomats from ASEAN countries and business leaders from the region, will attend the awarding ceremony where the vision for the latter half of 2023 will also be unveiled.
