Singapore, 23 April 2018 – Online delivery food company Deliveroo launched in Singapore on Monday their second Deliveroo Editions, a physical delivery kitchen housing different restaurants.
The new kitchen takes up 3,657 square feet (sq ft) of space at CT Hub 2 in Lavender, which is more than 1.5 times larger than the first 2,110 sq ft Deliveroo Editions at Katong.
Seven restaurants are housed at this new site: Kurry Korner, Aloha Poke, Street of Saigon, Da Paolo Pizza Bar, Blu Kouzina, Wolf Burgers and Do Si Rak.
United Kingdom-based Deliveroo will also be introducing a “click-and-collect” service at this Deliveroo Editions site, the first time the company is offering this service in the world.
Customers will have the option to come and pick up their orders directly at this Deliveroo Editions, and a dine-in space will also be offered to them. No delivery fee will be charged. However, unlike a full-fledged dine-in restaurant, no waiters will be present, and customers will have to first place their orders online through Deliveroo, even if they are there physically.
Deliveroo is also encouraging its restaurant partners to have “virtual brands” at this site, where they can come out new or complementary cuisines unique to Deliveroo, under a new identity. These virtual brands appear as a separate restaurant on Deliveroo with a new identity, rather than just extra menu items.
Vietnamese restaurant Streets of Saigon co-founder Jacinta Lee said: “For example, customers can now opt to try our virtual menu, SOS Asian Bowls which is a grain bowl concept, on top of our usual fare. “
Deliveroo founder and chief executive Will Shu said: “”As our competitors pack up and move out of Singapore, we are excited about our continued growth in the region, central to which will be our Deliveroo’s delivery-only sites.”
Deliveroo was the first food delivery company to introduce such a central kitchen housing different restaurants in Singapore last year. But rival foodpanda outpaced them to launch Singapore’s first kitchen and dine-in space last month.
