(Singapore, Apr 14, 2020) Singapore reported a record 386 new cases of COVID-19 infection in the wee hours of today, of which 280 are linked to known clusters.

None of these is imported and the vast majority of these are foreign workers living in dormitories, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in its daily update.

A 65-year-old Singaporean man has also become the ninth here who died of complications due to COVID-19 infection. The man was first confirmed to be infected on April 9, the ministry said in a statement. Khoo Teck Puat Hospital has reached out to his family and is extending assistance to them.

There are also 222 more cases linked to the S11 Dormitory @ Punggol, Singapore’s so far largest cluster which now has 586 cases.

Experts say almost three in four COVID-19 cases involving Singaporeans and permanent residents and with links that have yet to be established surfaced in the past 14 days.

From March 30 till Sunday, 205 local cases were detected that are still being investigated for links. They form over 70% of the 284 cases still under such investigation since the start of the outbreak.

MOH has also classified a total of 312 cases where no link as yet has been found as unlinked, with numbers rising in the last two weeks.
