(Singapore Aug 7, 2023) The Singapore Sports Hub will hold its first National Day Celebration on Aug 9, 2023 when fireworks will be set off along the Stadium Riverside Walk in the evening.
This offers fans of National Day fireworks an alternative to avoid the crowd at Marina Bay, the traditional convening site for the city republic’s National Day Parade (NDP) celebration.
Singapore Sports Hub’s own fireworks along the Stadium Riverside Walk on Wednesday evening will be the final day of its 12-day event, Majulah Fiesta.
Besides the fireworks, visitors can also catch the NDP, which will be screened live, at the OCBC Square and Stadium Roar from 5pm onwards.
The National Flag will be displayed on the roof of the National Stadium from 7:30pm to 10pm.
In the daytime of the National Day before the live screening of NDP starts, you can join the Majulah Fiesta fitness party, which will be held in two sessions on Aug. 9.
During the first session, which will be held from 10am to 11am, participators will get to undergo a cardio-infused dance workout with a Singapore twist. In the second session, which will be held from 11am to 12pm, they will get to travel all the way back to the roaring 90s through a Dance of the Nation workout.
Every year on 9th August, Singapore celebrates her nation’s birthday. This year she returns to the Padang, the place where the city state celebrated its historic first National Day Parade back in 1966. It is also the first time since 2019 for the NPD to return the Padang.
This year’s NDP theme “Onward as One”, a clarion call for Singaporeans to stay united as one people and one nation as they move forward to build an even better Singapore for ourselves and the next generation.
The Red Lions will make jumps at the Padang but not in the heartlands as they have done for the past three years. There will be an enhanced aerial display to commemorate the Republic of Singapore Air Force’s 55th anniversary as well.
